High School Students Have Biology Bash
By
Westmont
Westmont biology students will teach local teens during a free, interactive exhibition of research projects Friday, Dec. 7, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in Whittier Science Building, room 102. Biology Bash is limited to the first 20 high school students who sign up.
The hands-on workshop will introduce the teens to some basics of cell biology, microbiology and advanced biological laboratory techniques. Westmont students will share their own experiments and assist the high school students who will be culturing cell lines, staining and identifying strains of bacteria, examining tissues from a mouse and examining fluorescent cells under a microscope.
The afternoon will end with a Jeopardy-style quiz show in which teams of high school students will compete for prizes.
To participate, students need to RSVP to Fran Iba, biology department administrative assistant, at (805) 565-6151.
