More Than 600 Students Admitted Through Early Action

The Westmont Office of Admission announced that 620 first-year students were offered admission through early action to the class of 2012 .The early action application, with a deadline of Nov. 1, is a non-binding process that allows students to apply to other colleges and universities.“With all the confusing and restrictive application processes, this non-restrictive application opportunity is the best of all options,” says Joyce Luy, dean of admission.

Applicants get ample time to receive their decisions, consider all their college and financial aid options and make a final decision by May 1, the candidates national reply date Luy says.

Westmont receives an average of 1,200 applications for the early action program. Some candidates not offered admission through early action were deferred to the regular decision process. The preferential application deadline for regular decision candidates is Feb. 20 with notifications beginning March 1.

Early Action application is required for students interested in competing for the full-tuition Monroe scholarships. Thirty students have been invited from the top 20 percent of the early action admissions to compete on campus Feb. 8 and 9.

“This is a really exciting program that brings a very impressive group of students to campus,” Luy says.
