New Music Professor to Conduct Spring Choral Concert

Westmont’s annual Spring Choral Concert will feature the Men and Women’s Chorale, Chamber Singers and the 44-member Westmont College Choir, Friday, April 21, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1500 State St., at 8 p.m. A free-will offering will be taken.
Michael Shasberger, Westmont’s new Adams professor of music and worship, will conduct the college choir and co-conduct the Men’s Chorale with Grey Brothers, associate professor of music, and Steve Hodson, professor of music. Shasberger is in his first year at Westmont and has been actively developing artistic collaborations with the Santa Barbara arts community. He earned his doctorate from the University of Southern California.
Brothers will conduct the Chamber Singers and the Women’s Chorale. Paula Hatley will accompany the College Choir and Women’s Chorale.
The chamber singers will perform “Deep River” arranged by Rene´ Clausen, Paul Hindemith’s “Six Chansons,” and Henry Bishop’s “Home, Sweet Home.”
The college choir will perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Lobet den Herrn,” Greg Knauf’s “Blessed,” and “Let Me Fly” by Robert DeCormie.
