Orchestra, Wind Ensemble Perform Spring Concerts

The Westmont Chamber Orchestra will perform its spring concert, Sunday, April 9, at 7 p.m in the sanctuary at El Montecito Presbyterian Church, 1455 East Valley Road.
Under the direction of Emily Sommermann, faculty and students will be presenting works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Robert Volkmann and Benjamin Britten.
String faculty members Deborah MacCullum and Claudia Kiser will join a dozen student string members. Mike Eglin, choir director at El Montecito, will play harpsichord.
Student flutists Karen Schacterle and Alissa Sie will join Sommermann in the performance of Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 by Bach. Other works include the Serenade No. 2 by Volkmann and Britten’s Simple Symphony.
Sommerman received her master’s degree from the University of New York at Stony Brook and has been performing and teaching violin in the Santa Barbara area for over two decades.
The Westmont Wind Ensemble, directed by Paul Mori, will perform a free concert, Friday, April 7, at 8 p.m. at Montecito Covenant Church.
