Sports Camps are Swinging into the Summer

Online registration is open for Westmont’s popular summer sports camps, which will enjoy the college’s improved athletic facilities. Several all-day camps have returned to the traditional 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with aftercare offered until 4:30 p.m. All camps, which begin June 11 and run through July 30, start at 9 a.m. and cost $225 or $250. The price includes a camp T-shirt, photo and instruction by Westmont coaches as well as current and former Westmont student-athletes. Campers also have the opportunity to swim in the Westmont pool throughout the week.
Camp co-director Jeff Azain says that registration has started out stronger than in the past three years. “The success of the Warrior athletic teams this year and a lack of construction on campus has helped the camps grow in popularity,” he says.
Sports skills (June 11-15 and June 18-22) and archery/badminton (July 9-13 and July 16-20) camps are filling up the fastest. Other camps include girl’s volleyball (June 18-22), co-ed basketball (July 2-6 and July 9-13), co-ed tennis (July 16-20 and July 2327), co-ed soccer (July 16-20), co-ed track and field (July 16-20) and co-ed baseball (July 30-Aug. 3).
“We have an incredible community of staff, including Westmont coaches, players and alumni working to create a positive and personal experience,” says co-director Kristi Kiely. “It’s the Westmont way and it’s how we have run our camps since they began more than 15 years ago. We are intentional about our campers having a week full of fun and instruction, so that when they leave they have learned a bit more about the sport and enjoyed it.”
Registration and information about age restrictions are available online. Space is limited, and all camps are expected to fill up quickly. For more information, please call the athletics department at (805) 565-6010.
