Talk to Shed Light on Homeless Veterans

Dwight Radcliff, president and CEO of U.S. Veterans Initiative (U.S. VETS), speaks about the effort to break the cycle of homelessness among our veterans Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. in Hieronymus Lounge inside Kerrwood Hall. U.S. VETS is the largest non-profit organization in the country dedicated to helping homeless and at-risk veterans.
Every year U.S. VETS provides housing and clinical counseling, helping more than 1,100 veterans return to full-time employment. “U.S. VETS aims to foster the skills necessary for every veteran to return to the community, remain self-sufficient, and break the cycle of homelessness,” Radcliff says.
Radcliff says a third of all U.S. homeless men, more than 200,000, are veterans. He will describe the barriers veterans encounter and detail lessons from the Vietnam War.
The lecture is co-sponsored by Westmont’s sociology/anthropology department, the Office of Life Planning, and the Intercultural Programs Office.
